EcoPico LEDs for Fluval Edge Planted Tank

Originally from ticket #1119.

Hello, I was interested in purchasing the EcoPico LEDs for my Fluval Edge 6 gallon. This will be used for a planted tank. I have a few questions before I purchase. 1) How do most people attach the LEDs to the housing? Just confused how the lighting can be mounted and there are no detailed examples I can find on the web. 2) Can I keep the existing LED light bar that came with my tank and still attach the Pico LEDs? 3) How many and which ones would be good for planted freshwater plants? (Riccia/Baby Tears/ground cover) I was thinking in addition to the existing lights: (2) EcoPico LED Strip, 12,000K White and (1) EcoPico LED Strip, 453nm Blue. 4) Currently, you are sold out of the EcoPico LED Strip, 12,000K White. When will you have more in stock. 5) Would the Stunner LEDs be an alternative and can the light strips simply sit on top of the glass part of my tank? Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks ahead of time, Levi

Dear Levi Tam,

Thank you so much for contacting Ecoxotic and showing interest in our LED products. Please find the following answers to your questions below:

1) How do most people attach the LEDs to the housing? Just confused how the lighting can be mounted and there are no detailed examples I can find on the web. We would simply suggest mounting them under the small square hood of the Fluval Edge. We sell hundreds of these strips for the Fluval Edge as they do fit fine under the small square hood.
2) Can I keep the existing LED light bar that came with my tank and still attach the Pico LEDs? Yes, most hobbyists keep the existing lighting.
3) How many and which ones would be good for planted freshwater plants? (Riccia/Baby Tears/ground cover) I was thinking in addition to the existing lights: (2) EcoPico LED Strip, 12,000K White and (1) EcoPico LED Strip, 453nm Blue. Most plant hobbyists stick with straight 12,000K White, they do not use the blue strips as the blue wavelength is not really used for plant growth.
4) Currently, you are sold out of the EcoPico LED Strip, 12,000K White. When will you have more in stock. The 12,000K strips will be back in stock late next week.
5) Would the Stunner LEDs be an alternative and can the light strips simply sit on top of the glass part of my tank? Most planted tank hobbyists stick with the EcoPico strips, its a clean look and they work very well with this small tank.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Sincerely,
The Ecoxotic Team
