Originally from ticket #903.

I have a biocube 14 with stock lighting. I am interested in the 6W 453nm Stunner LEDs to replace my current 24W actinic lights. Is this a viable option? is 6W of LED lighting equivalent to 24W of fluorescent?

I have some softies, zoas and one LPS as of now.

Dear Jarvis,

Thank you so much for contacting Ecoxotic and showing interest in our LED products. In order to directly replace 24w of fluorescent, you would need closer to two strips (12 watts of LED total.) In this aquarium, we have many hobbyists who use two Stunner strips - one all 453nm blue and one 8K/453nm Blue combination.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Can you tell me if these are strips are still available or are there better options?  I have a 14G Oceanic BioCube with stock lighting 24w white and actinic florescent and the 2 stock led. The ballasts are failing. I need to replace everything for a marine aquarium with inverts and coral.  I would like for the lighting spectrum to be as similar as the stock stuff.  Because the ballasts are failing I wouldn't be able to use them either.

As it turns out, they have been discontinued and are no longer available.  For your Oceanic 14g BioCube, we'd suggest taking a look at a product made by our sister company Current-USA, Inc.  The Truelumen Pro Series Dual Nano Kit would be a suitable replacement for a 14g BioCube.  You can find more information on this kit by following the link below.

If you have any additional questions, please contact Current-USA, Inc. directly by emailing them.

    Thank you,
