I have a biocube 14 gallon tank and would like to upgrade my lighting to LED.

What do you recommend that will give bright/stunning lighting to a reef tank.

Aldo based on your recommendations do I need to add any fans for cooling?

Dear Jay,

Thank you for contacting Ecoxotic and showing interest in our LED products.

The aquarium you have is very common and you will find many threads in this FAQ and on other nano-reef boards regarding retrofitting to LEDs. For most mixed reef aquariums, we recommend the following:

For non-independent (no dawn/dusk) control:
1 x 12K White/445nm Blue Panorama Pro LED Module
1 x 445nm Blue Stunner LED Strip 12”
1 x 60w Transformer

For independent control (dawn/dusk):
1 x 12K White/445nm Blue Panorama Pro LED Module
1 x 445nm Blue Stunner LED Strip 12”
1 x 60w Transformer
1 x 12w Transformer (found on Stunner LED Strip page)

Note: if you want to grow clams and higher light requiring SPS corals, we recommend:
1 x 12K White/445nm Blue Panorama Pro LED Module
1 x 445nm Panorama Pro Module
1 x 2-way Splitter
1 x 60w Transformer

As a guideline:
- You will not need reflectors, the strips are designed to mount directly to your existing reflector
- You will not need the cooling fans, however we do recommend keeping them installed in your hood (just in case more ventilation is needed)
- Both the Panorama Pro Module and Stunner LED strips must be installed under the plastic lens – not on the outside lens of your hood.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Sincerely,
The Ecoxotic Team
