LED Retrofit in JBJ 24DX Hood

Originally from ticket #420.

Hello,

After several discussions with my LFS, I purchased two of your Panorama Pro strips as a retrofit for a JBJ 24DX Nano tank I purchased at a garage sale. Unfortunately, the metal reflectors have rusted and need to be replaced. Since the LED's don't require a reflector, I was thinking of using 1/4" plexiglas/acrylic to mount them to. My questions:

1. Can I mount the units to plexiglass/acrylic?

2. The instructions indicate that there spacers should be placed under the mounting screws, but no spacers were provided. What are these made out of and how thick are they?

Dear Hobbyist,

Thank you for contacting Ecoxotic. Please find the following answers to your questions below:

1. Can I mount the units to plexiglass/acrylic? Yes, you can mount our LEDs directly to plexiglass or acrylic.

2. The instructions indicate that there spacers should be placed under the mounting screws, but no spacers were provided. What are these made out of and how thick are they? The spacers are not required, however if you want to use something similar, simply use a washer or rubber gasket. This provides a small gap for better ventilation around the heat sink.

Please make 100% sure you use the plastic lens on the 24DX. Although our Panorama Pro Modules are water resistant - they are not designed to be used over open water and the plastic lens must be used for protection.

Sincerely,
The Ecoxotic Team
