Hi... I am looking to add LEDs to a std sized 90 gallon reef tank, w. an large assortment of LPS and Softies. I have a few SPS (birds nest, tri color valida). No clams.
I would like to add four of the Panorama 12W 8000K/453nm units, two to either side of the midbar of the tank under the canopy. Is this adequate? I am assuming somewhere in the neighborhood of 24 LEDs equivilant to about 250W MH so this just made sense. Can these be mounted to the canopy? I would eventually like to add two stunners for some dusk/dawn effect, but wanted your opinion on how 4 of the units would serve my tank.
Thank you so much for contacting Ecoxotic and showing interest in our LED products.
For a tank of this size we would actually recommend using 3 Panorama Pro Modules on each side vs. two. When using LEDs with soft and LPS corals, we highly recommend adding a bit more blue 445nm wavelength for strong color enhancement. Adding one 445nm Blue Panorama Pro module to each side will provide this additional blue wavelength spectrum.
The Panorama Pro Modules are designed to be mounted directly onto a canopy with no issues. The Stunner LED strips would work great as a moonlight or for some color - but they normally are not strong enough to provide growth at the depth of your tank.
Please let us know if you have any further questions.
