I am setting up a cichlid tank and am looking for an eco solution to my lighting problem. I was wondering if I could use 2 12" stunners with reflectors as primary lighting in the tank (it wont have plants, just fish and rocks). The reason why I want to do this is so I don't get a shadow from the reinforcement bar on the top of the tank (part of the plastic frame). Would it provide enough lighting so that it is bright, but not bright enough to cause much algal growth? thanks
Thank you for contacting Ecoxotic and showing interest in our LED products.
Two Stunner LED strips will work great over your tank, just be sure to use the reflectors as they will help penetrate the light into your aquarium. It will provide plenty of lighting in your aquarium for cichlids without causing any algae growth.
